The Italian restaurant, Golden Nero, is situated in the heart of Sofia, at Vitosha Blvd. 180. Given the restaurant’s refined ambiance, it required equally prestigious outdoor signage. The restaurant’s owners opted for one of the finest choices in image advertising – brass channel letters with halo illumination. Selecting an inscription that harmonized seamlessly with the restaurant’s interior, exterior, and overall aesthetic was of paramount importance to Golden Nero, and brass channel letters perfectly met these criteria.
We offer several types of brass cfhannel letters
Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, is known for its distinctive feature of evolving in appearance due to atmospheric conditions. The primary factors influencing this transformation include climate and the chemical composition of the surrounding air. Over time, brass naturally develops a patina, a gradual process that can span several years. However, for those who prefer to maintain the original warm golden hue of brass without being influenced by external factors, Media Design offers lacquered brass. This variation preserves its warm golden color and remains impervious to external influences, further enhancing the innate charm of brass.
Channel letters can also be made of raw brass. Here, the brass is left in its original form and is not subjected to preliminary treatments. A patina inevitably appears over the years, but this is not always a disadvantage. With these solid brass letters, we can turn a flaw into an effect – patinated brass letters. It is especially suitable for buildings that have a certain architectural style and retro facade design – schools, universities, banks, hospitals, and many others. Raw brass letters are a perfect addition to all of these listed.
Enhancing the effect of the warm brass color
This effect is achieved by incorporating LED modules within the channel letters. For the Italian restaurant Golden Nero, we employed the halo, or backlit illumination method, leaving the channel letters with open backs. Within the letters, LED modules are integrated, directing the light backward onto the base. This results in a striking “halo” effect that gracefully surrounds the brass letters. The Golden Nero channel letters are bathed in a naturally soft, warm light, thanks to G.O.Q. 3 LED Warm White modules. To create this halo illumination, we designed the brass channel letters with a depth of 8 cm, maintaining a 4 cm distance from the visor (base). These letters are securely installed using spacers, ensuring their stability and safety.
Different types of brass channel letters
For the “most impatient” customers, there are also brass channel letters that are pre-machined. The specialists of Media Design subject the brass to a chemical treatment (patination) and the patina does not need years to appear. Here, the end result of years of aging and oxidation is available to our customers as soon as the channel letters are placed – vintage channel letters.
